Wastewater Treatment for Slaughterhouse, Meat Processing and Seafood

Abattoirs and the meat and fish processing industries are water-intensive sectors. The entire chain, from slaughtering to processing and final cleaning, is subject to strict hygiene regulations. The processing accrues large amounts of wastewater containing blood, proteins, fats and animal excretions. If these effluents are not treated quickly and reliably, offensive smells and dangers from germs or insect infestation are imminent.

DAS offers suitable systems to effectively treat such organically polluted wastewater.  Treatment starts with mechanical separation, before the wastewater undergoes nitrification and COD/BOD reduction in the patent DAS TFR-Bioreactor. The technology is highly energy efficient, which keeps operating costs low. With biological DAS systems it is possible to treat wastewater to the point where it can be directly discharged and comply with all applicable safety limits.

The fact that all DAS equipments are closed systems - instead of open ponds - specifically benefits the meat and seafood processing companies. Due to their modular structure the equipment can easily be integrated into all processes and can be expanded, when needed, without difficulty. Should the factory relocate, the equipment can be transported, which offers an additional advantage for growth-oriented companies, especially in the emerging countries.
